Junk Addiction

My new little hobby/business, as I mentioned before, Crazy Hens no longer exists. I'm very saddened about the events that took place that caused this venture to disappear. All I can say about it is, jealousy is a very ugly and unnecessary part of life and business. So, now that that's over... I started Junk Addiction. I am most excited about it and happy to be on my own and driving my passion in to the direction that is best for me :)

I junk, paint, repurpose and do custom furniture. I was raised to appreciate all vintage history and now I am truly sharing my love of it all on my page...

Here are a few more pieces I've done and sold...

A piece I'm currently working on. I found an old cabinet bottom and had this old shelf in the garage.  I'm joining the two together, leaving the original green in the lower cabinet because it is a perfect green. I also picked up these cute fabric pieces and will place them behind each section of the shelves. Also have some old door trim I'm going to place on the top.

Busy Busy having fun... here is what I've been working on

My sad little blog. I've so neglected you. Been so busy painting and junking and being mom and facebooking. I wanted to share a few of the pieces I've done :)  I talked earlier about starting Crazy Hens. It didn't work out as planned... with my friend and business partner anyway. I wanted to go into a different direction and have it solely be mine. So I started Junk Addiction and I just LOVE it. I am junking and painting and doing something I was raised for and am truly passionate about :)

A thrift store hutch

This is a custom order hutch I recently finished. I found this one at a thrift store that was going out of business. I forgot to get a good "before" picture. So this was the cell pic I sent to my customer. I am always so eager to get started on my piece I forget that detail.

And here she is during and after her transformation.

I removed the back paneling, stapled in some really cute prim fabric and attached new board backing. Installed chicken wire and new knobs. Was a super fun project and I love the transformation. Isn't it amazing what a little paint can do :)

Here are a few little projects I've done in between all the painting... I love to keep busy while I'm waiting for paint, etc. to dry.

A few Before and Afters

I've been having some fun redoing unwanted and once loved random pieces of furniture and giving them new life. Thought I'd share a few things I've done recently.

I actually ended up sanding the top down and also staining the same color as the mirror and didn't snap a picture before she sold.

A dresser redo

I found this dresser on Craigslist. I was in love at first sight. I didn't like her color but had a vision for her. I had several other projects I was working on, so there she sat in my dining room (lime green) waiting for her turn.

I've named her Penelope. I started to name all the pieces I do. I bought her in a bundle. Three dressers for $215. The seller wanted $200 just for her, $30 and $50 for the others. I told her to give me a price for all 3 together. She said $215.... couldn't pass that up.

She is dated 1890 and I loved her character. Here are her before and after pics...

I love her and have decided to give it to my daughter.

Crazy Hens

I have a deep love and passion for history, junk and treasures. I have always collected these pieces of history and displayed them in my home. This love has led to a new venture for me and I am so excited about it.

I went to a vintage sale a few months back. The gal holding the sale and I hit it off right away. We became friends, shared our love for junk and long story short... started a little business together.

Crazy Hens was born.

I LOVE to find treasures and share them with others who are as excited about them as I am. This most recently has also opened the door to custom work. I've painted a few dressers and now have requests to do my work on some gals pieces. How fun is that! I continue to learn each day but strive to stick with what I love and how I love things.

Here is a recent dresser I finished and sold in 10 minutes after posting for sale. Our philosophy is to be affordable. I'm not trying to make a ton of money flipping, but allow a stay home mom on a tight budget to pick up a fun vintage piece and be excited!
