So I decided on a whim to paint a primitive style wreath on my floor at the front door entrance. That entailed a little more work than I wanted and took up most of the weekend, but I am happy with the end result.
That floor area endures wet, snow covered and muddy shoes, bicycles, scooters, skates and many many steps from children bringing in all the outside elements.
That meant sanding, on my knees with a hand sander, a new can of stain and then another new can of stain (as I backed into the first one and emptied the entire can on to the floor - sigh). The stain had a bit more red tone I was hoping for so I added a tad of black I had on hand.
I flipped my daughter's little round craft table over and traced around it to get a circle and hand painted the design. It's sitting now with the first coat of varathane and awaiting several more.

It's a pretty little welcome when you come in my door. A fun little touch. Now to paint all the trim, kids are so hard on white trim.
